Finance is responsible for several initiatives under the Procurement and Contract Management (PCM) Profession. These initiatives are designed to support the growth of procurement and contract management capabilities across the Australian Public Service (APS).

Pathways to Procurement Program
The Pathways to Procurement Program helps APS officials improve their skills in procurement and contract management. It is designed for officials who are new to these roles and need to learn quickly.
The program includes:
- Finance-led training
- a Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting delivered by a registered training organisation
- specialist guest speakers.

Procurement and Contract Management (PCM) Profession Community
The PCM Profession Community is an online group that helps improve procurement and contract management across the Commonwealth.
It brings together government officials who work, or are interested in, procurement and/or contract management. Members can:
- share best practice
- raise issues
- ask for advice
- hear from experts in industry and government
- get updates on policy, guidance, systems and tools.
Membership is open to all Australian Government officials who undertake, or are interested in, procurement or contract management.

Commonwealth Procurement and Contract Management Awards for Excellence
The Commonwealth Procurement and Contract Management Awards for Excellence (the Awards) are run by Finance. They highlight the important role that procurement and contract management plays in delivering services and outcomes for government, businesses, and the Australian public.
The Awards recognise outstanding achievements by Commonwealth entities. They showcase better practice, leadership, innovation and excellence in procurement and contract management.
The Awards also help build a strong community of professionals who share ideas, new approaches and lessons learned.
Professional Memberships Program
Finance has reviewed the Professional Memberships Program (PMP) and is updating its approach to supporting procurement and contract management capability across the APS.
The PMP has supported APS officials to access professional development resources and qualification pathways through procurement and contract management industry professional bodies.
Finance is transitioning to broader APS-focused capability events delivered through the PCM Profession Community.
Current Finance-sponsored professional memberships are concluding as existing arrangements expire.
Procurement and Contract Management Profession Bulletin
The PCM Profession Bulletin is a bi-monthly publication for Australian Government officials. It provides updates on PCM profession initiatives, events, learning opportunities, resources and guidance relevant to Australian Public Service procurement and contract management practitioners.
The Bulletin is available through the PCM Profession Community on the Members Community Platform.
